Summer Hockey Admissions Showcase 2010
The Road To College™ Hockey Admissions Showcase enters
its sixth year, offering a highly competitive and comprehensive recruiting showcase.
It is a selective, invitational program exclusively for serious student-athletes.
Our goal is to better prepare serious student-athletes for the ultra-competitive college admissions and hockey recruiting process.
Former Harvard Senior Admissions Officer, National Championship goaltender and former Harvard volunteer coach,
Chuck Hughes and Dan Donato, former Boston University standout defenseman, Associate Admissions Director and Head Hockey Coach at the Dexter School have teamed to create an exclusive
summer hockey combine that incorporates admissions planning and college hockey recruiting into one comprehensive program to help you improve your college hockey and admissions chances.

This 4-day program offers a full slate of morning college admissions planning and preparation work, afternoon recruiting forums, workshops and strength testing and evening on-ice showcase games.
Who Should Attend: Sophomores (year of graduation 2012), Juniors (year of graduation 2011) and Senior/Post-Graduates (1 or 2-yrs removed from high school) are eligible to participate at the Road To College™ hockey camp.
Note: ALL athletes must be recommended to receive an invitation.
College Coaches in Attendance in 2009: Last year 31 different Division I and Division III hockey programs came to watch the 2009 showcase with coaches from Hockey East, ECAC, The Ivy League and the NESCAC schools in attendance.
In addition scouts from the Los Angeles Kings, Washington Capitals, The Hershey Bears, NHL Central Scouting and USA Hockey attended to evaluate players.
There were a total of 58 coaching evaluation days during the weekend. (click here to view last year's college list).
Invitations and Applications: The management of
Road To College™ will invite qualified athletes to attend the summer Hockey
Combine. All athletes must be recommended to receive consideration.
Application:
1) All student-athlete’s are required to complete a brief application for consideration for admission to the summer combine via the
Application Form (PDF) or
Application Form (WORD).
2.
A copy of the applicant’s transcript that includes the first semester grades for this current year must be included. The high school transcript can be faxed to Road To College™ at (978)246-7716 or mailed to Road To College™ at

Screening: Initial screening of recommendations (Invitation Request Forms) begins February 1, 2010. Forms will be accepted and continually reviewed until the program is full. Space is limited and invitations will be reviewed on a case by case basis and based on availability.
Curriculum: The Hockey Admissions Combine offers a comprehensive program that covers all aspects of the classroom and on-ice elements required to be the best college hockey recruit at selective colleges around the country. The curriculum includes

A comprehensive, daily schedule will be mailed to accepted student. All student-athletes will receive a Road To College™ Planning Binder with all curriculum materials for all classroom activities upon registration at the camp.
Visibility: Our goal is to attract college coaches interested in evaluating top hockey athletes who are also focused on producing a strong academic and admissions profile. Through our coaching seminar forums, on-ice showcase and recruiting class sessions, the Road To College™ Hockey Combine will attract top collegiate coaches.
Coaches in attendance will receive student information packets upon registration and will receive an admissions analysis from Road To College™ based upon our transcript and SAT/ACT/PSAT test preparation analysis in the late summer to them get a stronger picture of where a candidate is heading from an academic perspective.
Staff: The
Summer Combine staff includes former college admissions officers, prep-school
coaches and other field experts.
Chuck Hughes: Co-Founder of Road To College™, Chuck was a goaltender for the Harvard National Championship team in 1992. He also served as a former senior admissions officer at Harvard College from 1995-2000. During this time, Chuck also worked as a volunteer coach for Harvard. Chuck is also author of “What It Really Takes to Get into the Ivy League and Other Highly Selective Colleges.”
Dan Donato: Dan is On-Ice Director for the Summer Admissions Combine. He was a standout defenseman and at Boston University ’93 helping BU to the NCAA final in 1991. Dan is Associate Director of Admissions at the Dexter School in Brookline, MA as well as the varsity boy’s hockey coach.
Bruce Wolanin:Bruce enters his second year as coach and college counselor at the Pomfret School in Connecticut after two stints as an assistant coach at Yale University that spanned more than eight years. Bruce graduated from Yale in 1991 and had a stellar career as a defenseman.
Additional Staff: Sean McCann (St Sebastian's School, Former Harvard defenseman), Dan Driscoll (Berkshire School and UConn player), Larry Rooney (Thayer Academy, Former Providence player) and Rob Gagnon (Cushing Academy, Former UNH player)
Fees: The Summer Hockey Combine Program offers both boarding and day options to its participants for the 4-day, 3-night program. Financial Aid is available for those receiving aid in school or will be need-based aid candidate for college.
Day Students: $699
Boarding Student: $999 (Boarding students are required to provide their own linens and transportation to and from Milton Academy’s campus)
