Stephen J. Pemberton – Founder
Road To College, Inc.
Stephen J. Pemberton spent 10 years as a senior undergraduate admissions officer
at Boston College, acting as the primary application evaluator for 11
territories across the country. As a senior staff member, he chaired several
admission committees, coordinated an extensive network of student and alumni
volunteers, and designed admission publications for the college.
As one of the primary evaluators of International applicants, Steve gained
extensive knowledge of educational systems around the world. A frequent
presenter at conferences of the National Association of College
Admission Counselors as well as The College Board, he is also the creator of
Making College Search Count (2000), an in-school seminar that has been
delivered to 1.6 million high school students in 6,000 high schools across the
nation. His second effort, Making College Financing Count, is a financial aid
seminar, slated to enter the market in the Fall of 2003. In addition, Pemberton
was a contributor to High School Students’ Guide to Success (1995), a
publication he co-authored with several colleagues.
Prior to co-founding Road to College, Inc., Pemberton served as vice-president
of strategy and development for Monster.com’s MonsterCampus division, a group
of profitable affiliates focused on the educational market. In this role
Pemberton advanced Monster’s student recruitment solutions by developing new
products, enhancing technology, and assessing new business opportunities to
further Monster’s foray into the high school and college markets.
Steve earned his BA in political science from Boston College in 1989 and resides
in Massachusetts with his wife, daughter and two sons.
